Pancakes for the Planet dishes out to nearly 300 people
Nearly 300 guests braved the chilly morning weather to attend the inaugural Pancakes for the Planet fundraiser. The event raises money for children’s outdoor environmental education programs sponsored by the Environmental Interpretive Center.
Breakfast and raffle ticket sales raised nearly $1900, with total sponsorship and donations for the event reaching nearly $3000.
Participants also donated nearly 105 pounds of food and personal hygiene items, which members of the Student Environmental Association will deliver to Help’s on the Way, a community food pantry in Dearborn Heights.
A total of 46 volunteers, mostly UM-Dearborn students, helped serve the guests.
“The inaugural Pancakes for the Planet fundraiser was a huge success!” said David Susko. “The organizers thank all of the volunteers, donors, and participants who helped make this event possible.”
Pancakes for the Planet is a collaborative event sponsored by the Community Involvement and Volunteerism Center, the Student Environmental Association, and the Environmental Interpretive Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
