School of Education logoUniversity of Michigan-Dearborn’s School of Education will launch a new master’s degree in educational technology beginning this fall. The Master of Arts in Educational Technology, which can be completed fully online, is designed to support educators as they meet the growing demands of technology-driven students.

“Technology is playing an ever-increasing role in our lives as demands grow for responsible digital citizenship,” said Edward Silver, dean of the School of Education. “Educators, instructors and trainers need to become proficient with a broad range of technologies and become capable of designing technology-enhanced learning activities to meet the needs of tech savvy K-12 students as well as adult learners.”

The Master of Arts in Educational Technology is intended for educators interested in developing expertise in the effective use of various forms of educational technology in teaching and learning.

Courses in this 30-credit hour degree program focus on core digital competencies, effective instructional design, challenges in the design and delivery of online and hybrid forms of instruction, and the use of technological resources to enhance face-to-face instruction. In addition to earning the master’s degree, current K-12 teachers can qualify for an NP Endorsement from the Michigan Department of Education.

Educators who teach in K-12 schools, colleges and universities, private industry and other instructional settings are encouraged to apply for the program. Courses are offered online throughout the year to accommodate a variety of schedules. More information is available on the School of Education website.
